8 Year Old Pike County Second Grader Goes Undefeated In USCF Rated Chess Tournament

ree

On February 1st Beau Adams, an 8 year old Second Grader at Pike Primary School, competed in the monthly grade scholastic chess tournament sponsored by Chesstronics in

Cumming, Georgia.  This United States Chess Federation (USCF) rated event consisted of 4 one-hour games in one day.

Beau did not lose a single game.  He won 2 games and tied 2 games.  He won 2nd Place outright in the K-3 section and was awarded a handsome trophy for his efforts.

Beau’s performance in this tournament represents a continuation of his fine play in January’s MLK Holiday Chess Tournament in which he won 4 out of 5 games and finished tied for 2nd place.  In his last two tournament appearances Beau has won 6 games, tied 2 and lost only 1.

When asked if he intends to return to the Chesstronics tournament next month to fight for the first place trophy Beau said simply “I’ll be back.”

Beau is the son of Laura and Joey Tinsley of Pike County and the grandson of Bentley Adams, III and Mary Chandler of Thomaston.
