Person dies in mobile home fire along with pet in Spalding Co
The Spalding County Fire Department said they are investigating a deadly mobile home fire that happened early Tuesday morning. Crews were called to a home located on Old Atlanta Road around 1:58 a.m. One person and a pet were found dead inside the home following the fire, according to fire officials. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Shooting in Griffin
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, shortly after 10:00 p.m., the Griffin Police Department, Griffin Fire-Rescue, and Wellstar Spalding EMS responded to a reported shooting at Raymond Head Park, located at 800 Anne Street in Griffin. Tree Land on Vehicle on Hannah's Mill Road
At approximately 4:30 AM this morning, Northside Fire Rescue was dispatched to the intersection of Hannah's Mill Road and Fallin Road for a report of a tree on a vehicle. Units arrived within minutes and found a passenger vehicle trapped beneath a large pine tree that had fallen across the roadway.
