Alta Jo Langley Shoemaker

Mrs. Alta Jo Langley Shoemaker, age 83, of Atlanta, passed away on May 30, 2025.  Alta grew up in Atlanta, daughter of the late Joe Summerlin Langley and Bessie Estelle Coleman Langley.  She began her career with the telephone company working for the Yellow Pages. After 42 years she retired from Bell South as an Administrative Assistant.  As part of her duties there, she was the Georgia Telco Credit Union Representative. Alta enjoyed posting and looking at “The Facebook”, shopping and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Billy Dean Shoemaker, her daughter, Angela Duck, and brothers, Michael Langley and Pat Langley.

She is survived by her son: Billy Shoemaker (Roxanne); grandchildren: Joey Shoemaker (Holly), Ashley Duck, Rebekah Lewis (Carter), John Shoemaker (Paige); great-grandchildren: Cypress Jo Keller, Lakeleigh Elise Lewis, Colton John Shoemaker, and Hudson Joe Shoemaker.

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at 2 p.m., in Fairview Memorial Park in Stockbridge.
