Brenda Jane Gilbert Burson

Ms. Brenda Jane Gilbert Burson, age 82, passed away December 2, 2024, at Brightmoor Nursing Home.  Ms. Burson grew up in the Cove Community of Meriwether County. She was the daughter of the late Willie Gilbert and Blanche Brown Gilbert.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from GA Southwestern College in Americus.  Ms. Burson taught Kindergarten through fourth grade. For many years, she taught at Mt. View Elementary School in Manchester. She was a kind-hearted and generous lady. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and loved animals, especially dogs and cats, and was known for feeding and taking in strays and giving a home to many.

She is survived by her children:  Ken Burson (Denise) of Molena, Tina Strickland (Johnathan) of Americus and Todd Burson of Americus; grandchildren: Christian Burson (Nicole), Morgan Damen (Nate), Shaye Burson, and Cayden Bivins; numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie Jr., Melvin, Craig, and David, and sisters, Margaret and Felice.

  It was Ms. Burson’s wish to be cremated. Her family will hold a service at a later date. Moody Daniel Funeral Home
