Burdie Long McKinley Brannon

Mrs. Burdie Long McKinley Brannon, age 97, of Thomaston, died Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Upson Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services for Mrs. Brannon will be held on Friday, June 13, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.  Elder Chris Hill will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, June 12, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.


Mrs. Brannon was born in Upson County on May 16, 1928, to the late Homer Long and the late Dallie Bea Bassett Long.  She was a  homemaker and had worked for Martha Mills in the canteen and the lab.  She was an avid gardener, and she enjoyed writing poetry and song lyrics.  Mrs. Brannon was the oldest member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church.


Mrs. Brannon was preceded by her first husband, George Aldine McKinley; her second husband, Ralph Kenyon Brannon; and a son, Gaylen McKinley.  She is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Hardy) Mitchell of Thomaston; four grandchildren: Mack (April) Mitchell of Blackshear, GA; Shannon (Brett) Hammonds of Stockbridge, GA; Adrian Griffith of Thomaston, GA; and Callie (Sam) Coker of Thomaston, GA; and eleven great grandchildren: Ethan Mitchell, Avery Griffith, Cody Mitchell, Alex Hammonds, Britney Hammonds, Mattie Griffith, Noah Mitchell, Marlie Kelly, Maizy Kelly, Tatum Coker, and Beau Coker,  Many nieces and nephews also survive.


The family requests that those desiring make memorial contributions to Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church,
