Dorothy Jean “Dottie” Eldridge, age 79, of Barnesville, passed away January 16, 2026. Dottie grew up in Yatesville, daughter of the late Colby W. Eldridge, Sr. and the late Mattie Stallings Eldridge. After graduating from Yatesville High School in 1964, she attended Airline School and obtained the job of her dreams at Eastern Airlines where she worked in several capacities including instructor roles. She worked for Eastern until they closed in 1991. She then moved to SITA where she continued working with airlines, writing programs and instructing students from all over the world. During these years she traveled the world and enjoyed learning all the different ways of life.
Dottie retired in 2003, and became very involved with a Pet Rescue, Dolly Goodpuppy Society in Barnesville. Already being a mom to a Yorkshire Terrier she loved dearly, she rescued several more puppies over the years making sure they all received an abundance of love.
She was also very involved with her church, Barnesville Presbyterian. She served as an Elder and also treasurer for many years. She was always there to volunteer for whatever was needed.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Colby Eldridge, Jr. and Dennis Eldridge and sister-in-law Sharon Eldridge.
She is survived by brother Tommy Eldridge, sister Kay Scott (Steve), sister-in-law Janie Eldridge, nephews Daniel Eldridge and Jerry Eldridge and niece Jenna Swanson (Luke), six great-nieces and one great-nephew all who she adored!
Her precious dog Zoe was with her until a few months ago when she could no longer care for her.
It was Dottie’s request that her body be donated to Emory University to help future doctors with their research. A memorial service is being planned.
Those wishing to make donations in her memory may do so to Dolly Goodpuppy Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
