Duke Granted State License

Updated: May 1, 2024

Steve Duke has informed 101 news that the state Department of Revenue has granted him his state liquor license so he can begin stocking inventory and open for business at Dukes Wine And Spirits, on North Church and Short E streets.

Two storefront churches located within 100 yards of the building had held up the state licensing progress for months, although the city of Thomaston had granted permission for him to open.

Several dozen supporters of the business showed up recently for an 11 Alive crew doing a story about the delay.

Steve told 101 news he learned he had been granted the license while cutting the grass Thursday evening
