Frances Ann South Mitchel

Mrs. Frances Ann South Mitchell, age 85, of Molena, GA, died Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Riverside Health and Rehab of Thomaston.  Funeral services for Mrs. Mitchell will be held on Tuesday, December 31, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.  Rev. Tim South will officiate, and interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Monday evening, December 30, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Mitchell was born on August 27, 1939, in Roosterville, Heard County, Georgia, to the late Marion Charlie Purgason and the late Nora Lee Adams Purgason.  She was a homemaker and kept children in her home for a number of years.  Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Elkins Creek Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, Mrs; Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Lynn  "Bud" South, and second husband, X. E. Mitchell.  She is survived by her son, Rev. Tim (Darlene) South of Molena; one brother: Don Purgason of Newnan, GA; three granddaughters: Kim (Mike) Hawley of Littleton, CO, Kelly (Nick) Montgomery, and Kristy (Kyle) Legg, both of Thomaston;  Bridgett Goggins of Littleton, CO, who was like a granddaughter; and nine great grandchildren: Mikey Hawley, Erika Legg, Landon Legg, Trent Legg, Madiline Legg; Loretta Montgomery, Riley Montgomery, Emily Montgomery, and Grayson Montgomery.
