Frank William Hammett

Mr. Frank William Hammett, known to everyone as Joe, passed away September 14, 2026, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin. Joe grew up in East Point, son of the late Edgar Hammett and the late Jerry Whitten Hammett. For most of his life, he was a mechanic. He worked for Yarbrough’s Junk Yard in East Point for many years and then at Snatch Masters in Jonesboro where he had worked for the last 15 years. Joe enjoyed working on cars and fishing.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Robin Woody and brothers, Danny Hammett and Junior Hammett.

He is survived by his daughter: April Hammett; sisters: Geneva Spinks, Stella Young and Janice Gallman; nephews and nieces: Justin Hammett, Daniel Hammett, Matt Hammett, Amy Mohan, Jamie LaCroy, Roger Kirkland, Michelle Simpson, Gina Roberts, Joey Woody, Mickey Hammett, Jason Hammett, Shannon Roberts and Cassie Holcomb; his partner: Patricia West.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., at Oak Hill Cemetery, 96 Jefferson Street, Newnan. Pastor John Sims will officiate.

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the graveside.
