Mrs. Gloria Salter Clark, age 89, of Thomaston, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Clark was born in Thomaston on April 13, 1937, a daughter of the late Emory Ben Salter and the late Mattie Emma Garner Salter. A 1955 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, Gloria devoted her life to her family as a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home wherever life led her. Alongside her husband, H. Lamar Clark, she lived for many years in Montgomery, Alabama, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Indianapolis, Indiana, before returning to her hometown of Thomaston in 2005.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Gloria was a devoted member of Mountain View Baptist Church and was actively involved in church life in every community she called home. She was instrumental in starting Grief Share, served for eight years as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship while living in Indianapolis, and was a member of the Board of Christian Women's Clubs in Stone Mountain, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis. She also volunteered as a member of the Upson Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
Gloria found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved line dancing, reading, traveling, and spending time with those she loved. Her unwavering faith, servant's heart, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Cary (Patti) Clark of Pendergrass, Christopher (Laura) Clark of Flowery Branch, Cindy Siren of Thomaston, and Chuck Clark of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her sisters, Gail Rogers of Thomaston and Lynn (Micheal) Jones of Clayton; her four grandchildren, Lauren Clark, Steven Siren, Stephanie (Vasile) Ivascu, and James Clark; her one great-grandchild, Gentry Siren; and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Lamar Clark.
Funeral services for Mrs. Clark will be held Monday, July 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church with Dr. Ryan Christopher officiating. Interment will follow in Fincher Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mountain View Baptist Church on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
