Helen Anderson Kyle passed away peacefully with family at her side on the evening of October 2, 2025. She was a resident of Westbury Nursing Home in Jackson and under the care of Brightmoor Hospice.

She was born Mary Helen McCammon to Ora Irene McCammon and James Richard McCammon on October 20, 1934 in Tillatoba, Mississippi. After the death of both parents, Helen became a ward of the state and attended Tennessee Industrial School, which was a boarding and training facility operated by the state. The school provided a safe environment for children and provided instructions in farming, cooking, canning, printing, cosmetology and other endeavors. She graduated in 1952 and participated in choir, Y-Teens, the Business and Professional Women’s Club, and she was a cheerleader, Vice-President of the Commercial Club and Senior Class Reporter. She gained skills at the school that she used throughout her life and made many friends as well. At that time, one of her dreams was to be a champion figure skater, and some of her friends affectionally called her “Champ”.

In 1959 she married William Eldridge “Andy” Anderson who was enlisted in the United States Navy. Together they had three children of whom she was very proud. She was a dedicated housewife at various naval bases where they lived, including Charleston, SC, Abilene, TX, Key West, FL, and San Diego, CA. The family moved to Mr. Anderson’s hometown of Griffin, Georgia in 1974 when he ended his military service. Mr. Anderson passed away in 1982. Helen attended a reunion of former students at Tennessee Industrial School. She saw Melvin “Jack” Kyle there, who had been in her graduating class, and they married in 1988. They resided in Griffin for several years before moving to Molena. While there, Helen enjoyed attending Beulah Baptist Church. In addition to attending church, she particularly enjoyed travel, yard sales, thrift shops and playing the Georgia lottery. Mr. Kyle passed away in 2022.

Helen is survived by her brother Ray McCammon (Clara), brother James McCammon, brother Mason “Mac” McCammon (Linda), her children Johnny Anderson, Robin Cochran, and Debra Sibley (Charles), grandchildren Trey Davis, Darby Cochran, Drew Cochran, J.T. Anderson, and Landon Anderson, great-grandchildren Sloane Davis and Alden Davis, and her beloved Shih Tsu, Comet, who is a good boy.

The family plans a private memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, friends are requested to make a donation to Christ Chapel, 68 Old Zebulon Road, Zebulon, GA 30295, in memory of Helen.
