Henry Marvin Taunton Jr

Mr. Henry Marvin Taunton Jr., age 83, of Thomaston, died Monday, March 3, 2025, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin.

Mr. Taunton was born on May 7, 1941, in Troup County, GA, to the late Henry Marvin Taunton Sr., and the late Johnnie Mae Powell Taunton.  He served his country in the U.S Army Nation Guard. He worked and retired from Thomaston Telephone later known as Verizon as a telephone technician.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons, Timothy Mark Taunton, Rodney Noel Taunton; brother, Marlin Taunton; and sister Joyce Slaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Virginia Pitts Taunton, of Thomaston; daughter, Pam (Shawn) Thompson of Yatesville; son, Jerry Taunton of Thomaston; sister, Mattie McCranie of Thomaston; grandchildren, Stephen (Jessica) Taunton, Levi Thompson; and great-grandchild, Adileigh Taunton.

The family will have a private graveside service at a later date.
