U-L Teacher of The Year

Updated: May 15, 2024

Upson-Lee Primary teacher, Mrs. Amanda Gunnels, was announced on Wednesday, May 15, as the Thomaston-Upson School System 2024-25 Teacher of the Year. Superintendent Dr. Larry Derico and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Amy Miller made the announcement in a surprise visit to ULPS. The System Teacher of the Year is selected from among the individual schools' Teachers of the Year by a panel of community and school district judges. Judging was based on an application packet, a classroom/teaching observation, and a teacher interview. Mrs. Gunnels will now represent the Thomaston-Upson School System in the Georgia Teacher of the Year competition.
