Jacky Hiram Harris, age 86, of Thomaston, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, surrounded by those he loved most.
Jacky was a devoted husband, proud father, and beloved Paw Paw. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanelle Harris, his children Kay Harris and Jay (Anna) Harris, and his goddaughter Cathy Doone. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Jodie (Richard) Marchman, Jessie (Ben) Watson, Jayme (Dillon) Watson, Owen (Kaitlyn) Harris, Claire Harris, and Hugh Harris. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Hudson (Huddy) Marchman, Beckett (Squirt) Watson, Merritt (P-Lucy) Watson, and Harris (Peanut) Watson. Jacky’s love extended beyond blood, and he cherished his honorary grandchildren, Brylee Tillery and Presleigh Kate Conway.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Larris Harris and Willie Mae Harris, and his son, Gregory Curtis Harris.
Jacky worked as a loom mechanic at Thomaston Mills for 45 years, but his true passion was spending time with those he loved. Whether he was working on Paw Paw’s truck with his beloved nephew, Phil Harris, piddling on the farm with Bo Bryant, or stirring up trouble on the phone with his best friends “Wood,” “Teal,” and J.R., Jacky was always up to something — usually with a grin and a story.
He was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a lifelong, die-hard Georgia Bulldog fan. For 53 years, he made the annual trip to the Georgia/Florida game — a tradition he held dear. Nothing made him happier than calling the Dawgs with his family and all his tailgating buddies.
Jacky will be remembered for his hard work, unwavering loyalty to family and friends, and the joy he brought to those lucky enough to know him.
To know Jacky was to laugh, to feel welcomed, and to be reminded of the simple joys in life — family, faith, football, and a little mischief.
