Janet Claire Harrison Stahl Melvin

Janet Claire Harrison Stahl Melvin, age 87 of Wesley Chapel, Florida, passed away March 25, 2026.

Janet, an Army brat, called many places home while growing up. She lived in Maryland, Iowa, Alaska, California, Washington, and Germany.

While in Germany she met Army Lieutenant Louis Stahl. After returning to the United States, they were married and moved to Tampa Florida. Together they raised 2 sons and a daughter. After Louis died in 1976, she moved her family to Forest Park Georgia after marrying Ronald Melvin a fellow widower, with 2 daughters and a son. Their blended family gave Janet her very own “Brady Bunch”.

Janet was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Upon retirement, Janet and Ron moved to Zebulon, Georgia. They had a mini farm on Glover Road. Together they grew many fruits and vegetables, raised cows, goats and chickens, and had several cats and dogs.  When she began to have trouble with her health, Janet left Zebulon and moved to Florida.

Janet was an active member of Zebulon United Methodist church for many years.

Not one to “let the grass grow under her feet” Janet loved to travel. She enjoyed many trips to visit family, family beach trips, and many European, Panama Canal and Caribbean cruises.

Janet was an avid bridge player. She belonged to several local bridge groups and played often. She also played card games and dominoes weekly with friends. She loved China painting, sewing, working in her yard, and weekly Friday night dinners with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband’s Louis Stahl and Ronald “Ron” Melvin, her parents Harold Harrison and Ann Harrison, her brother Greg Harrison and niece Nancy Harrison.

She is survived by her children Ruth Hardy (Michael) of Lawrenceville Georgia, John Stahl (Laurie) of Land O Lakes Florida, David Stahl (Nicole) of Englewood Florida, Stepchildren Ronald L.
