Mrs. Jennifer Hickinbotham Sanders, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at her home in Thomaston. She was 77.
Born on May 23, 1948, in Snodland, Kent, United Kingdom, Mrs. Sanders lived a life marked by dedication, creativity, and love. Jennifer was Office Manager for MRS Homecare for many years, where she served with commitment and professionalism. Her talents were numerous and well-appreciated by family and friends alike. Jennifer had a remarkable passion for sewing and alterations, specializing in wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. She lovingly made clothes and suits for her sons, showcasing her meticulous craftsmanship and care. Among her many creative pursuits, she became famously known for her "Mickey Bears," over 1,000 of which she crafted. These beloved bears were a staple at the Chitlin' Hoedown, where her booth was a cherished presence. Additionally, Jennifer enjoyed flower arranging, bringing beauty and elegance into every space she adorned. She was a beloved member of The Rock Methodist Church, where her faith and spirit touched many lives.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Louie Sanders, whose partnership and love was a cornerstone of her life. She was the proud mother of two sons: Ric (Tammy) Sanders of Marshall, Virginia, and Andrew (Ashley) Sanders of Lexington, Kentucky. Jennifer was also a loving grandmother to four grandchildren: Jacob, Kaitlyn, Drew, and Alora Sanders, who brought joy and warmth to her later years. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Gammon of Glasgow, Scotland, and several nieces and nephews, who remember her fondly.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Hickinbotham and Winifred May Yates Hickinbotham, her son Ronald Lea Sanders, and her sister Pamela Hickinbotham.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Jennifer will be held on Saturday, April 4, at 1:00 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Arianna Eberle officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.
