John Thomas Gibbs

Mr. John Thomas Gibbs, age 94 of Thomaston, died Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Eternal Hope Hospice.

Mr. Gibbs was born on May 15, 1931, in Mentor, Tennessee, to the late George E. Gibbs, and the late Ruby Humphreys Gibbs. He retired from UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Science.  He resided at Pike Manor for several years; the family would like to thank them for their care.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Sue Gregory Gibbs, and second wife, Mary Lou Welch Gibbs, brothers, Calvin Gibbs, Don Gibbs, and sister, Mary Lynn Morton.

Survivors include his daughters, Norma Ancell, Ronda Moore, Greta Wood, stepdaughter, Darlene Bailey, stepson Lewis Minter, sister, Nancy Gates, five grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.  

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Upson Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
