Mary Jennifer Governo, age 52, of Pike County, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025.
She was born in Marietta, Georgia, and lived most of her life in Pike County. She was the daughter of the late Tom Dickens and Andrea Grigsby Dickens. She earned both her Associate of Science in Nursing and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery as well as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Caring for babies was one of her greatest joys. She loved animals and the outdoors, especially time spent at the lake. A talented musician, she played the flute, oboe, and piano, and she loved singing. She also enjoyed listening to the Tabernacle Choir. Her interests included genealogy and being active in her church community.
She is preceded in death by her father, Tom Dickens.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Louis Governo; mother, Andrea Dickens; sister, Joanna Berry; half-sisters, Trina Messervy, Terry Elrod, and Tam Ashwood; half-brothers, Todd Dickens and Brian Letulle; children, Louis M. Governo, Ian Governo, and Hailey Governo; granddaughter, Adelaide Governo; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 3 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3748 Barnesville St., Thomaston, GA 30286.
Friends may visit the family from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the church.
Burial will follow at Moody Memorial Gardens 10170 US Hwy. 19 North Zebulon Georgia 30295.
