Mattie Lizzie Henderson Wohner

Mattie Lizzie Henderson Wohner, affectionately known as “Pete” passed away November 11, 2025.  Mattie grew up in Pike County, daughter of the late Harold Henderson and the late Maude Fogerty Henderson.  She moved to Griffin in 1965, where she lived for many years. In her early career, she was a disk jockey for WGRI in Griffin and WDEN in Macon and later worked for the Bibb County School System until her retirement in 1998. 

Mattie and her husband, Joe, also lived in Kentucky and built their dream log cabin. They enjoyed traveling and camping.  She made hundreds of fleece blankets that she donated to cancer patients and nursing homes.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Wohner, sisters, Ann Ison and Betty Calvert, brothers, Lee Henderson and Lewis Henderson. 

She is survived by her daughter: Robin Flynn Harris (Ted); grandchildren: Drew Harris and McLain Harris; brother: JW Henderson (Bobbie Wester); sister: Virginia Callaway (Bill); many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Hill Church Mission Fund, 100 Lakeside Drive, Williamson, GA 30292 or Spalding County Jr. Deputy Program, P.O. Box 1007, Griffin, GA 30224, in memory of Mattie.
