Ms. Melinda Claudette Goldman Young, age 87, of Meansville, finally made it to Heaven “one piece at a time” on May 29, 2026. Claudette was born and raised in Meansville and graduated from Pike County High School in 1956.
She worked for William Carter Company, Sherri Lynn Manufacturing, and later Thomaston Mills, where she remained until her retirement. Claudette was a faithful member of Vega Community Church for many years. She loved the Lord and never missed an opportunity to share her faith with others.
Claudette enjoyed talking on the phone, visiting with friends, and bringing laughter wherever she went. She never met a stranger and was always ready with a good joke or funny story. Her outgoing personality, quick wit, and joyful spirit made her a friend to many and a blessing to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Towery, Jesse Gunn and Gary Young, her son, Jason Towery, brothers, Bill Goldman, John Goldman and Jack Goldman, and a sister, Gail Turner.
She is survived by her sons: Johnny Towery and Jim Towery (Vicky); step-daughters: Lorice Barber, Marcia Pile and Rhonda Gunn; sister: Sheila Tolley; brother: Jim Tolley; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
A graveside service will follow at 6 p.m., in Moody Memorial Gardens. Pastor Ken Horton will officiate.
