Merrell Dwayne Padgett


Merrell Dwayne Padgett, age 61, of Meansville, passed away December 27, 2025, at his home.

Dwayne grew up in Atlanta, son of the late Lamar Padgett and the late Joyce Brooks Padgett. For many years, Dwayne worked with his father as a brick mason. When his son, Keith, was young, he coached him in baseball. Dwayne was an excellent artist and enjoyed drawing. He was an animal lover and sports fan. The Atlanta Braves and Falcons were his favorite teams.  Dwayne was an amazing cook and enjoyed preparing meals with his wife, Carol.  Most importantly, he loved being a father to his children and Daddy-D/PawPaw to his five grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Debbie, Donna, Doug and David.

He is survived by his children: Denise Thompson (Robert), Keith Padgett, and Kayla Miller; daughter-in-law: Geneva Martin; grandchildren: Kristin Burnett, Haley Habeeb, Jaden Mervine, Legend Padgett, Lakelynn Padgett, Averi Adcock and Gentri Adcock; great-grandchildren: Eli Jones and Lila Jones; sister: Darlene Bryant (Darrell); many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Dwayne will be held later.
