Patricia “Patsy” Ann Sims Carden

Mrs. Patricia “Patsy” Ann Sims Carden, age 83, of Rex, passed away May 15, 2026. Patsy grew up in the Bessemer, Alabama area, daughter of the late Truman and Lorene Sims. She worked for Owens-Illinois for over 30 years before retiring. Patsy’s great joy in life was being with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Kenneth” Carden, brother, Larry Sims, sister, Wanda Allman, and her brother-in-law, Jerry Carden.

The greatest love of her life has been cheering on her three children: Steve Carden (Pamela), Debbie Melton (Mike) and Jeff Carden (Bonnie); and her grandchildren: Craig (Carey), Brian (Mallory), Bradley (Morgan), Lacy, Amanda, Melody, Jessica, and Brett; great-grandchildren: Tristan, Drew, Audrey, Brodie, Taylor, Luke, Cole/Riley (twins), Bubba, Colt and Collins.

She is also survived by her brother: William Sims (Brenda); sister-in-law: Evelyn Carden; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens. 

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
