Rebecca “Becky” Ann Smith Reese

Mrs. Rebecca “Becky” Ann Smith Reese, age 85, of Zebulon, passed away peacefully at her home on January 13, 2026.

Becky spent her childhood in Zebulon and later moved to Ellenwood after marrying Marvin Reese. They made their home there for many years before returning to Zebulon in 1991.

At the age of 12, Becky was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church in Zebulon. She later attended Victory Temple in Jonesboro and remained strong in her faith throughout her life. In her early working years, she was employed at Nabisco in Atlanta and The Clorox Company in Jonesboro. She later found her calling as a nursing and activities assistant at Pike Manor in Zebulon, a job she truly loved.

Becky enjoyed playing Rummy and Tetris, working crossword puzzles, trying her luck at the slot machines in Las Vegas, going on cruises, and shopping. She could often be found rocking on her front porch, waiting eagerly for her “babies” to arrive, or relaxing in her bed with her headphones on, listening to Jimmy Swaggart.

Above all else, Becky was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she devoted her life to caring for them.

She was preceded in death by her parents: William Oscar “W.O.” Smith and Mary Evelyn Shivers Smith; her husband: Marvin Reese; sons: Tim Reese and Brian Reese; grandson: Flynt Reese; daughters-in-law: Sandra Reese and Donna Reese; sister: Donie Newland; and brothers: W. O. Smith, Jr. and William “Billy” Smith.

She is survived by her children: Keith Reese, Tammy Ponder (B.J.), Robin Parham (Barry), and Bruce Reese (Paige); sisters and a brother: Frances Johnson, James Smith (Karleen) and Betty Hamby (Mike); sister-in-law: Lisa Smith; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Rev. Tyson Roache officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Zebulon.
