Rebecca Charlotte Reynolds Kierbow

Rebecca Charlotte Reynolds Kierbow passed away peacefully at Eternal Hope Hospice on July 2, 2026 after a brief illness. She was born in Jackson, Georgia on June 24, 1941 to Marian Louise Rogers Reynolds and Wilbur Hugh Reynolds.

Growing up in Jackson, her love for animals became apparent while helping her parents on their cattle ranch. She rescued many animals (and even some people) over her lifetime and taught her daughters that every life is precious and should be nurtured.

Rebecca embodied the sentiment that a life lived for others is a life well lived. She radiated a genuine warmth and love for the people in her life and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. That gift was especially apparent during her 20+ year tenure of teaching in the Griffin Spalding County School system, since Rebecca believed that it’s difficult to learn on an empty stomach and would often visit her struggling students after hours to deliver a home-cooked meal.

Rebecca’s greatest joy came from her family. When her girls were growing up there were many trips to Rich’s in downtown Atlanta aboard the Nancy Hanks that always included lunch and a fashion show at the Magnolia Tea Room wrapped up by a stop at Rich’s Bake Shop to stock up on sweet treats before heading home on the train. She loved unearthing a bargain & shared her love of shopping with her daughters.

Rebecca was a woman of many talents and over her lifetime always found a way to carve out time for creative writing, watercolor painting, cooking delicious meals and growing roses in her garden. Despite mobility issues that prevented her from attending church in her later years, she remained strong in her faith and continued to pray daily for family and friends.

She will forever be lovingly remembered and so dearly missed by her daughters, Kimberly Dawn Kierbow and Lisa K. Mathews (Bruce) along with her granddaughters, Kali M. Haney (Brian) and Kirbi Mathews. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and visits were always filled with storytelling, reading books and creating memories to be treasured. Her memory and generosity will live on in the lives she touched, the gardens she tended and the many animals she rescued – especially her beloved cat, Bella.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to our talented friend Carole Castile, as well as the caregivers at Westbury Jackson and the skilled staff at Eternal Hope Hospice for the excellent care and love they bestowed upon Rebecca.

The family will honor her memory with a private Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Griffin 1st United Methodist Church.
