Ruby G. Hodnett Craft

Ruby G. Hodnett Craft born on October 22, 1932, passed away in her daughter's home on July 2025.


She was born on Lineville Alabama to parents, R.G. Hodnett and Mary Bertha Waldrop Hodnett. In school she enjoyed playing basketball in the position of forward. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a teenager and always strived to live a Godly life. Ruby spent most of her employment years in textile sewing factories. She graduated from cosmetology school in Chattanooga, Tennessee and for a while worked as a beautician. She also had an in home salon where she served family and friends with perms and haircuts. She married her pastor on December 20, 1952 following the passing of his wife. Her greatest accomplishment was serving as a faithful Baptist Pastor's wife for 52 years. They moved often for ministry but wherever they were she made their house a home. Her family and friends enjoyed her cornbread dressing, chocolate and coconut cakes as well as her homemade banana pudding. She was a well dressed lady with clothes purchased mostly from yard sales and often color coordinated shoes to match each outfit. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband Rev. Chester Craft, who passed away September 15, 2005. Her brothers, James Leroy Hodnett, T. Arnold Hodnett and H. Jack Hodnett.


She is survived by her 2 daughters Cathy Hansard husband James of N. Augusta S.C, and Susan Rebecca Terrill husband Scott of Columbia S.C. Four grandchildren Jamie Hansard, Nathan Hansard, Rachel Matney, and April King. Twelve great grandchildren Ashley, Devin, Emily, Payton, Addison, Ansley, Isla, Claire, Jenna, Matthew, Lydia and Sawyer. two great-great granddaughters Kensley and Jazmine. She also has several special nieces and nephews. She had a special caregiver and friend Joyce Burleson.


The family would like to thank Empyeran Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.

Flowers will be accepted but in lieu of flowers donations can be made in Honor of Mrs. Ruby Craft to New Friendship Baptist Church at P.O. Box 310 Woodbury Ga. 30293.


The celebration of life service will be held on Saturday July 19, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lineville Al at 2:30 p.m. cst. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Saturday July 19, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
