Mrs. Shirley Ann Anglin Salter entered the world on February 23, 1935, but made her entrance into heaven on September 30, 2025.
She was born to the late Leonard Jasper (LJ) Anglin and Genie Cheek Anglin. She was the baby of nine children whom all preceded her in death. In 1951 she married the love of her life, the late Roy Salter Jr. She worked at the William Carter Company until she left to care for her mother and daddy for over 17 years. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a long-time member former member of Pritchett Memorial Baptist Church where she held many positions, but her all-time favorite was leading the choir, a job she enjoyed.
In the 70's, she formed a gospel group called, Shirley Salter and the Believers. The Believers spent over 15 years on the road spreading God's word thru song. Singing was what she enjoyed. She had a love for people, no matter the need she was always willing to help. It was not a surprise for her to show up during a death, sickness, or just because she wanted to help with a meal. It was a blessing for her to help others.
Mrs. Salter is preceded in death by her son, Roy Bart Salter, whom she missed dearly. Mrs. Salter is survived by her son, Blake Salter, two girls that she called her daughters, Cindy Cato and Debbie Helms, who took excellent care of her, a nephew, Wally Knight who seemed like her son. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends. She leaves behind her precious fur baby, GG, who loved to be in her mommy's lap.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from The Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
