Thomaston Fire Department Recognizes Local Heros

The City of Thomaston council meeting, LaKeitha Thompson and Kathleen Thompson were recognized for their actions on the morning of December 13, 2025.


Lakeitha Thompson was passing by a home that was on fire and immediately stopped to see if anyone was home. She made contact with an elderly female, dialed 911 and assisted with helping her out of the burning home.

Kathleen Thompson jumped into action assisting Lakeitha with the elderly female by sheltering her in her home, ensuring that she was safe and contacting her family.


Lakeitha and Kathleen are related and are long residents of the Thomaston/Upson county community. The selfless act of bravery and generous hospitality helped save a life and kept the person safe until the family arrived.


We are grateful to have these two individuals a part of our great community! We applaud you both!
