Thomaston, GA – April 5, 2025 – At approximately 11:10 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, officers from the Thomaston Police Department (TPD) and deputies from the Upson County Sheriff's Office (UCSO) responded to multiple shots fired in the area of Daniel St. and Bethel St. The incident occurred near an open field across from the Scrimmage Line Bar and Grill, where a large crowd had gathered.
According to the Shift Supervisor, while patrolling a few streets over from the location, several rapid gunshots were heard coming from the area. The supervisor immediately responded, followed by additional patrol units from TPD and UCSO deputies. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that at least three individuals had sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to Upson Regional Medical Center. It was also reported that at least one person was run over by an SUV while attempting to flee the scene.
Sgt. McCoy advised that the altercation, which led to the gunfire, involved multiple individuals. Several different types of firearms were reportedly discharged during the incident, though the exact number of shooters remains under investigation. Preliminary information suggests that the event could be linked to previous incidents that have occurred in the area in recent weeks.
The confirmed injuries include:
A 17-year-old male, grazed by a bullet on the right leg, requiring stitches.
An 18-year-old female, shot in the left arm.
A 17-year-old male, shot in the right calf.
None of the gunshot injuries are life threatening.
A 16-year-old juvenile, who was run over by an SUV during the chaos. The juvenile was initially transported to Upson Regional Medical Center and later transferred to a trauma facility due to the severity of their injuries.
The incident involving the SUV is believed to be unintentional, resulting from the frantic escape following the shooting.
