UPSON CO STEPS UP TO HELP HELENE VICTIMS

Ex-Upson county commission chairman rusty Blackston is working with several churches to collect relief supplies for hurricane victims in Echols County in south Ga. A big rig will be parked at Thomaston Walmart starting Thursday morning 8am for supplies such paper towels, baby needs, can soft drinks, pop top can foods, hygiene products.

The EMA Director in Echols county said it might be a month before power is restored in the county.
