Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore Reports The Arrest of A Squatter on Burglary and other Charges

On February 12, 2026 at 10:50pm the residents of 1939 Yatesville Highway in Thomaston reported a Burglary. They reported that as they returned home they found that the front door to their house had been kicked open. As they entered the residence they found a white male inside. The male claimed that he was told by an unknown person that he could live there. There was a confrontation between the homeowner and the burglar as the male attempted to run from the residence. The homeowner was struck with a pair of wire cutters resulting in an injury to his head.  The burglar left behind his shirt and shoes as he fled. It was later determined that four vehicles on the property had been entered and items stolen from within. Jewelry, medication and coins were stolen from the residence.

Investigators were able to locate the Burglar the next day and take him into custody. He is identified as Joshua Aiden Mason, 19, of 118 RuAlmaine Circle in Thomaston. Mason is charged with Burglary, Aggravated Assault and four counts of Entering an Auto.

Mason is being held in the Upson County Jail.
