The Commander of American Legion Post 15, Air Force veteran Alfred Archer, encourages everyone to come and pay tribute to all of the men and women who have served and who are currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States. The program will include posting of the colors by Marine Corps League Detachment 1196; patriotic music by Eric Moye, Sylvia Hollums, and Achaia Missionary Baptist Church Praise Team; dedication of memorial brick pavers and flags; salute to the branches of our Armed Forces; the firing of three rifle volleys by the Marine Corps League honor guard; and the playing of TAPS.

Griffin-Spalding County Veterans Day Program
November 11, 2025
The Barnett-Harris Post 15 of the American Legion will sponsor the annual Griffin-Spalding County Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday, November 11 at Veterans Memorial Park on East Taylor Street-Memorial Drive. The program will begin at 11:00am, which is the traditional time for the service. Veterans Day celebrates the signing of the Armistice with Germany at 11:00am on November 11, 1918, ending WWI – 11-11-11. Bleachers will be available for seating, but attendees are encouraged to bring personal chairs, as well. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held in the Fifty Forward Senior Center on Memorial Drive.
UPSON LEE HIGH SCHOOL
Air Force veteran and pilot LT. Colonel (retired) Craig P. Lauderdale will be the keynote speaker. LT Colonel Lauderdale participated in the Global War on Terror with assignments in Quatar, United Arab Emirates, Garcia-Diego-British Indian Ocean Territory, and Kyrgyzstan. He flew 995 combat hours and 150 combat and combat supported sorties over Afghanistan and Iraq. He continues his aviation career today as a 737 pilot with Southwest Airlines based out of Hartsfield-Jackson International airport.
The Upson-Lee NJROTC in partnership with the local American Legion post invites the public
to attend its annual Veterans Day Ceremony honoring all who have served in the United States
Armed Forces.
The ceremony will be held on November 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greatest Generation Park.
Community members are encouraged to join cadets, the Upson-Lee Knights band, and local
veterans in recognizing the courage and sacrifice of those who have defended our nation. All are
welcome to attend.
