William “Dusty” Frederick Berner, Jr., age 68, of Concord, passed away on August 23, 2025.

Dusty grew up in Marshall, IL, the son of the late William Frederick Berner, Sr. and Patricia Joan Kos Berner. At a young age, Dusty moved with his family to Georgia, where he attended school in Decatur and graduated from Towers High School. For most of his working life, Dusty drove trucks, a career that spanned many years. He retired after driving for ABF Freight for 20 years, during which he earned a distinguished place in the “Million Mile Club” for driving one million miles safely.

In 2004, Dusty and his wife, Demeris, purchased property in Concord and built their dream home. Dusty cherished the quiet rural life, enjoying rides down the dirt roads in their neighborhood, sitting by the outdoor fireplace, and simply being in the country. He also loved deer hunting and made it a priority whenever time allowed.

Dusty is survived by his loving wife, Demeris White Berner; children: Dusty Aaron Berner (Julia), Matthew Joshua Berner (Elizabeth), and Chelsi Elise Castro (Idalia); grandchildren: Maze Freyja Berner, Dinah Elin Berner, Jaxx Allen Berner, Charlie Grace Berner, and Lucas Alexander Castro; sister: Vickie Moll (Herb).

A Celebration of Life service for Dusty will be held on Tuesday, August 26, at 1:00 p.m. in the Pavilion at Christ Chapel Church, 68 Old Zebulon Rd Zebulon Ga 30295. Family will begin receiving friends at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating a memorial gift to the Christ Chapel Honduras Project (select building fund) or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, ASPCA.
