Lewis Henderson Hobbs

Lewis Henderson Hobbs passed away peacefully in his home on April 21, 2026.

Lewis is the son of the late William and Sara Hobbs of Butler, Georgia. He has a late brother Donnie Hobbs and sister Brenda Moss. Left to cherish his memories are his two boys Johnathon (Mindy) Hobbs of Reynolds and Wesley (Megan) Hobbs of Butler, grandchildren Logan, Kaylin, and Lainey Hobbs, Skylar and Jaxon Hobbs, and Nathaniel and Dakota Fournier, his sister Peggy (Eddie) Allen of Thomaston, a special friend Virginia Cole, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Lewis stayed busy and enjoyed loading scrap metal, buying and selling cars, selling watermelons, piddling and working on things, spending time with family, and singing and playing guitar. In his younger days you may have caught him frequenting pool halls and honkey tonks. Over the years he began to enjoy attending church and began to grow his relationship with the Lord. Lewis was a jokester and loved picking on people, especially those closest to him, but he would also give you the shirt off his back! He was always helping others. He's been known to give a car to someone in need, and the evening before he passed he was planning to load up a lawnmower to cut a friends grass who was unable to cut his own. That's just who he was. He was always willing to help and was only one call away if you needed something. This was especially true for his boys, who knew they could always count on him.

Memorial services will be held Saturday May 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to his church, Zion Tabernacle. 3023 Crest Hwy, Thomaston, Ga.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
