Thomaston-Upson Board of Education Approves New Superintendent The Thomaston-Upson County Board of Education voted at tonight’s board meeting to approve Dr. Travet “Tret” Witherspoon as the new Superintendent of Thomaston-Upson County Schools. Dr. Witherspoon brings more than two decades of distinguished K-12 educational leadership experience to Thomaston-Upson County Schools. A native of Adel, Georgia, he has dedicated his career to improving student outcomes across South Georgia. From the classroom to the superintendent’s cabinet, Dr. Witherspoon has earned a reputation as an innovative and results-driven leader who places a strong emphasis on equity, community engagement, and student achievement. Throughout his career, Dr. Witherspoon has served in a variety of leadership roles and has been recognized for his commitment to academic excellence and building positive school cultures that support both students and staff.
