Thomaston Upson County Schools on LOCKDOWN

Sheriff Dan Kilgor said:

This morning, August 6, 2026, at 8:19am a call was received by Upson 911. The caller claimed to be within the high school armed with a weapon. Upson Deputies, Thomaston PD and GSP immediately responded to the high school. All Thomaston Upson schools school were immediately placed on lockdown The school was searched by law enforcement officers and no credible threat was located.

We are currently working to determine the origin of this call.  All students and staff are safe.

All Thomaston-Upson Schools have returned to their normal schedules.

Earlier today, district officials and local law enforcement responded to a reported threat. Appropriate safety procedures were immediately implemented at all schools while the situation was investigated.  Following a thorough assessment, no school was found to be under a credible threat, and all campuses have been determined to be safe. As a result, normal school operations have resumed.  The safety and security of our students and staff will always remain our highest priority. We appreciate the quick response of our school administrators, staff, and our law enforcement partners.
