Stabbing In Thomaston

Updated: Aug 27

On August 26, 2024 at 3:25am, officers from the Thomaston Police Department responded to the intersection of Mallory St. and Stewart Ave. in Thomaston in reference to a fight. Upon their arrival they discovered gray Kia Sorento with a flat tire stopped on Mallory St. running occupied by a black male and a black Honda with three flat tires parked in the middle of Stewart Ave. at the intersection with Mallory Street.

There were two additional subjects on the scene outside the vehicles upon the officer’s arrival. One was a female that was trying to help the subject inside the Kia Sorento. Sgt. Morgan, the first officer on the scene quickly assessed that the subject inside the Kia had multiple injuries that appeared to be stab wounds and was bleeding.

The female and other male subject were detained for further investigation without incident. They were identified as Eniyah Smith, 19 years of age from Thomaston and Samone Reed, 25 years of age from Macon, Georgia.

The male in the Kia Sorento was identified as Tykeevius Montfort, 25 years of age also from Thomaston. Montfort was assisted from the vehicle by the officers who immediately began rendering first aid until EMS and the Fire Department arrived on the scene. Shortly after their arrival Montfort was transported to Upson Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

After further investigation it has been determined that both Montfort and Reed got into a physical fight while in the intersection during which time Montfort was stabbed multiple times. Both Reed and Smith were transported to the Police Department for questioning. The reasons for the fight have not been determined at this time.

This is an active investigation with charges pending.
